In 1974, Sousa joined the popular, California Coast band, FLY BY NIGHT. This group of talented studio musicians managed by Gary Borman of James Taylor and Faith Hill fame, recorded several albums for Leon Russell's Shelter Records, including two Larry Hosford albums. In some of these sessions Beans found himself among some of the best musicians in the world, including guitarist George Harrison of the Beatles. Sousa also did time at Emmy Lou Harris's Enactron Truck Studios, where he shared songs with Hot Band Guitarist Rodney Crowell. At that point Beans was recognized as a Singer and Songwriter and shortly there after, as Producer/Musician producing recording sessions for Singer Songwriters on the West Coast.

In 1980 Beans Sousa was recruited by renowned country singer Lacy J. Dalton, first as a Bassist, but later as a supporting acoustic guitarist. Dalton and Sousa have developed a unique relationship over the years, as you can hear on the track "Reno and Me", a Duet they recorded for Sousa's first Solo Album project. You can also hear Sousa on Dalton's Greatest Hit's Albums.

In 1989 Beans released an album of songs written by his favorite songwriters entitled "You Don't Know Beans" for Shop Records. This album was named by TNN's Ralph Emery, and of course received national exposure on Emery's "The Nashville Now" television show.

In early 1999 Sousa Co-Produced the album "Wild Horse Crossing" by Lacy J. Dalton and Friends, for Shop Records sister company, SHOP-EZ Records. A compilation of original songs, the majority of which were written by Dalton and Sousa, but performed by the musical community of the surrounding Reno Nevada area.

After completing the production of Dalton's "Wild Horse Crossing", Beans produced and wrote the solo effort " INTO THE BLUE" This project consists of vocal selections, with each song written about and dedicated to different friends and associates of the artist including Walter Hyatt to whom the album is dedicated to. Sousa now lives among the Sierra Mountains near Lake Tahoe, Nevada. As an avid trout fisherman, Beans is often found performing night clubs on the West Coast and making appearances at the Strawberry Music Festival, and High Sierra Music Festival.
